The Music City Oldhammer Society Discord is alive and growing—we’re up to 12 members now, and only a week away from launching our 6th Edition Skirmish Campaign! Traffic is slow, but the energy is great so far. A few of us are getting our warbands together and swapping photos of old models.

On my end, I’ve received the bulk of my Wood Elves army in the mail—all classic metal sculpts. I’ve spent some time stripping old paint jobs (some of them pretty rough… relics from long-forgotten battles, no doubt). There’s something meditative about cleaning them up and prepping them for a fresh coat. The forest spirits deserve better.

I’ve also managed to paint my starting skirmish warband:
- 1 Mounted Noble (portraying a mature Skarloc himself, now a Noble)
- 2 of Skarloc’s Archers
- 2 Dryads
For this warband, I decided to go full old-school and stick to the classic layering and edge-highlighting techniques. It’s been fun, and I love how it connects me to that vintage ‘90s White Dwarf’ look—but man, my skills are lacking. Getting clean, consistent results is tough, and I’m not a talented painter. I’m already second-guessing whether I’ll stick with this method for the whole army. We’ll see.

For now, though, I’m enjoying the process. Painting has been a great source of relaxation this week.
