This past weekend, I took a deep dive into the Facebook groups and managed to secure some fantastic lots to kickstart my 5th Edition Wood Elves army. One of my first acquisitions was a group of Skarloc’s Archers, an iconic unit that will form the core of the archer regiments I’ve always envisioned. These classic sculpts perfectly capture the old-school Warhammer aesthetic, and I couldn’t be more excited to get them on the table.

The second, much larger lot I picked up is a major milestone in assembling this army. With this haul, I now have most of the key units that captured my imagination decades ago. The only things missing at this point are a mounted mage and some Glade Riders, but those will come in time. This lot includes most of the characters I’ve planned for, as well as some key models I’ve had my eye on since my early days in the hobby.
Beyond the core troops, I’ve always had a deep love for Wardancers, Dryads, and that classic Treeman sculpt. Both the miniatures and the lore surrounding these units are some of my favorite aspects of the Wood Elves. These iconic sculpts truly embody the magic and mystery of Athel Loren, and I can’t wait to bring them to life with paint and battlefield action.

In addition to building my army, I also had a great catch-up with an old friend from Texas who has an incredible talent for painting armies. His work has always been an inspiration, and reconnecting with him has only added to my excitement for this project. On top of that, I spent some time over the weekend printing minis for a secondary project, which I’ll reveal in a future update.
This is just the beginning of my journey back into 5th Edition Warhammer, and I’m looking forward to logging every step here—from collecting to painting to gaming.
